FYI - even D2 is heated by your engine before its injected and its much thinner viscosity than your cold WVO.

How many mile on your WVO belnd??? 10 miles and developed a problem might mean its time to rethink your ratios.....if 140K would be different story.
Hi Terry.

As I mentioned before, I've been using WVO on and off, at times pure WVO blend for about a year now. Blend is 80% oil to 20% gasoline.

I replaced the pre-filter and the fuel filters yesterday, battled to start the car, eventually ran the car for about 3-4 miles, smooth as silk, no problem.

This morning, I started the car (it fired up immediately, as usual), I proceeded to clean the windows as she warmed up, when the motor began to run rough and cut out. I couldn't get her started up again.

I might mention that there seems to be a small amount of fuel leaking from underneath the coupling that feed to the pre-filter. Any ideas on this?

Thanks in advance,

Bjoern

On the prefilter, did you either install new o-ring or transfer the old o-ring to the new prefilter? This was my mistake when I first changed fuel filters.

I never run more than about 15%RUG in my WVO blend and that is in single digit NE temps. In summer I'm down to about 5%RUG.

When I lose power on the highway, I found that the spin-on filter is the culprit, never has the prefilter been clogged.

As of today, 16,000mi on my OM606 on the blend, 37,000 on the OM617 on the blend. No mods to either car.

That's what came to my mind too, but there was no o-ring with the pre-filter as I had expected (OEM filters bought from MB dealership).

The o-ring for the prefilter in your engine is a separate purchase item. Still, if you bought from a dealer, they should at least have asked whether you also wanted a new o-ring.

More dumpster diving.....

Is always interesting that folks can even got the 606 started w/o that oring, it cant seal well. Key to that problem is usually the engine cutting out a few minutes later.

Yes, you would think that it would leak fuel all over the front of the engine and be totally dripping on the ground obvious (or would the under-shroud catch it?).

I suspect the fan would blow it to the rear of the filter housing and that it would be caught assuming one has the center belly pan installed. Many of us have taken that one off though.

LOL, I like the dumpster comment! But in truth, that's what I had to do. My son spotted the empty o-ring groove, to the dumpster we went. Fitted the ring, and all is ok!

Thanks for all the advice and discussions, you guys are great!

You're not the first person to have missed that one and had to "go looking" for it later.

Do stop by the dealer and pick one up. It's a part that is often overlooked by techs also and you should start out knowing it is new as it is the cause of many leaks.

That also could be the o-ring on the self primer, if this car has one? I am sure someone else can verify it though. I had that issue and I used a nitrile o-ring on mine, dont know how long it will hold up, but it has for a year now.
