Looking at an '84 300TD

A friend called and asked if I was interested in her 1984 US-spec 300TD. It's been sitting for at least a year outside, dead battery, appears to have at least some rust.... I understand it's hard to start in the winter, so I'm guessing it's a combo of valve adjustment and/or glow plugs.

I have a 1983 300D, so I have some knowledge of W123 cars, but I know the Wagons are pretty unique and can be pricey to repair.

I haven't seen the vehicle yet, but I'd love to hear advice about what to look for with this particular model.
