Pics of my 300D

Just wanted to share a couple of pics of my 83 300D 194,000 on the clock. Picked it up a couple of weeks ago, and I paid a premium ($4900) but I'm happy with it. I've already been able to fix a couple of things(hard shifting tranny, steering wheel play) thanks to all the great info on this site. Just got through polishing and waxing before I took these pics.

That's not necessarily a lot to pay if a whole lot of work has been done to the car already. Looks nice.

More pics

The rust below the driver side taillight and on the front valance is all there is. I think the car was originally a Cali car(found a couple of oil change stickers from San Diego) but I bought it in Conn. I cant get aux fan to kick on also. I applied 12v to the motor and it kicks on. I also jumped out the switch on the reciever/drier and swithed the relays on the driver side fender but It still wont come on. Does this model have the resistor? If so where is it? I've done a search but can't find what I'm looking for. Does the same relay on the drivers fender control both the compressor and aux. fan?(DPDT)

I've got rust in the same place. Anybody ever dealt with this, tracked down the source and how did you fix it? Should probably do a search... Oh, nice car by the way. Sorry about the thread highjack.

I'm having a similar problem with my fan, the motor is binding. Sometimes it comes on with 12V applied directly, other times I have to give it a turn to get it to run. I'll probably just replace it with an after market unit.

Your 4th picture showing the Differential. It looks like the boot on the axle
is cracked. better check that. If that crack is open then dirt and water will quickly destroy it. might be able to reboot it.

Nice car.

The condition of your car is pretty impressive considering its location.

That tail light rust is a strange one; never seen that before.

Nice car.

Charlie

It does not look cracked to me, but I have a boot kit for sale in parts just in case.

BTW it looks just like my 83 240/300d.

The only reason I can think of a car rusting under the taillights and noplace else is if its been hit and repaired there and they didn't get the paint good enough.
