suitable materials for Bio production

Is PVC pipe suitable for handling B100?

Is aluminum a bad idea since Sodium Hydroxide is involved?

You'll want to use high density polyethylene plastic (HDPE.) I can't recall the number right now (in the small 'recycle' triangle.) If you can't get stainless steel, carbon steel is better than aluminum. You can do the caustic mixing in a smaller HDPE container before adding to the oil and you should be safe.

No to the aluminum for mixing methanol and lye, PVC works Ok for finished fuel as does aluminum. For processing PVC won't take the heat and CPVC won't take the chemicals. Black iron pipe works best for all unless you can afford Stainless. The number in the triangle is 2
