Quivering oil pressure needle
Hi Guys, I hope I can trouble you for some advice. Lately (within the last week) I have noticed the oil pressure needle on my 300D Turbo start to quiver. The quivering itself is very, very slight - I doubt the tip of the needle moves more than 0.5mm (or less) and fairly rapid.
The car maintains the correct pressure at hot idle (anywhere from 1.3 to 1.6 Bar) and I haven't switched brands of oil lately - I'm running Lubro-Moly 15W40, and in fact just did a filter and oil change on Saturday. That change happened after about 5000km on the previous batch of oil, same weight and brand. The needle seems to quiver regardless of oil temperature or pressure. As I said, pressure always appears correct - under load as well as idle. Should I be concerned? I am not really sure what to do, so hopefully someone else has seen this before too. Thanks in advance for your help!

It's time to replace the o rings on the shaft that is part of the oil filter cap.

Oh! Yes, I should have mentioned - I haven't replaced those little o-rings ever, yet. They're probably way past due. I've had the car for about 8000km myself, so far. I'm guessing they are probably 13,000 km old at least.

Replace those o-rings, yes, I am sure that will resolve the issue. I'll bet when you go to remove them they are hard as stone.

Dont forget to clean out the holes whilst you are in there.

While I dutifully replace the O rings at the base of the oil filter cover/shaft, this did not remove the fluctuating needle. What I noticed is that the rapid fluctuations only occur at really hot temperatures. There was somebody who mentioned a "cure" to insert a part MB made for this "problem" (annoyance really) but I don't know where the thread is now. It's really small and is inserted into the oil line before it goes into the instrument cluster.
When it gets cooler, the fluctuations disappear together with the hot temps. My car exhibited this fluctuating oil pressure needle when we went to Ridgecrest (high desert in California) where the temps soared to 100+F. It also did the same when the ambient temps around our area rose to 90+F. Then when it got cooler the fluctuating disappeared and on normal driving it doesn't even appear at all.
