does a intercooler increase in power? like wise in modified filter? or putting a larger pipe like 3" to the exhaust and a straight pipe do the trick?
honestly this is the first time that had interest in those thing.

An intercooler will help, as cooler air is denser, = better combustion, so it should help, but how much, anyone done a dyno test?

Bring it back to factory spec and you will be happy.
Valve lash, new timing chain, injectors, verify boost to the alda...

PLEASE, do not hack up another one with mods.

I understand increasing the exhaust pipe size does not effect performance.

That would be the first step, getting it back to factory performance.

That being said you can modify a car with out "hacking" it. I could put my car back to stock quite easily. I have not even drilled a single extra hole in the body when modifying it.

good mods

1. add a very big spoiler
2. put on a big silver oil can muffler
3. run a K&N cool air intake
4. Put big Mercedes Sticker on the windshield
5. 18" chrome rims
6. dark limo tint the windows

That's a fast Mercedes 300CD!!

I just wonder

When will people actually realize that if they want "performance" from a 300D/CD/TD that they should just give up and buy a "performance" car?

I these cars were ever "performance" vehicles, then I have an F1 and I never knew it!

Sell me your CD and get a real performance car, I'll just cruise with your "not enough performance" rig.

Look ferdz, what we're trying to say is with a ton of mods you still aren't going to make a whole lot of difference. You basically have the wrong car if you want it fast.
Just make sure all systems are working as they should and that gives you more than acceptable performance from stock trim. At least you have a turbo.
Don't hack up the air intake. Very little benefit, very poor filtration......

I'm actually planning to do a performance mod to our 300CD. I'm converting it from stock CA to stock FED.

ferdz not trying to be mean here but I agree with them, any mercedes diesel just isn't the sort of car you can really modify and get crazy performance out of it, buy something with an american V8 my recomendations would be a chevy 350 or ford 302 both have great high performance parts availability and go crazy drop the motor in a light weight car like a mustang or a camero and have at, as for a benz best to get them back to factory specs and enjoy the ride ohh and an intercooler by itself will do nothing for your engine you will need more fuel and air to make an intercooler worthwhile, unless you just want to lower your EGTs.
