Thanks for the tip. I will. I am only driving the car on my days off now, because I normally run late for work and in a hurry, so I drive my LS400 or Grand Ville.

I have put about 120 miles on it since I refilled the fuel tank and the gauge has barely went down from 1/1.

Will take me forever at this rate to burn out all of that fuel.

I did notice the last time I drove it (Sunday), that the smoke on start-up was much less than before. Once I go about a mile down the road, its not noticable anymore. I still have that "warm engine" missing sound at idle that concerns me, but maybe driving it more and getting fresh fuel in there will cure that issue.

Exactly, it just needs to be blasted out. I do it about 70% of the time I am driving....and yes, my car runs very very smoothly.

an italian tuneup will help. but if you want gasser performance, you should pull the injectors and have them tested/cleaned/set at a diesel injector shop. should only cost about 20 for shields, and 20/injector tested to get them balanced and SMOOOOOTH running.

Oh yeah thats the ticket they hate to sit. My SDL always runs like crap for the first few hundred miles when I take it out of storage in the spring.

Ours don't seem to have an issue with that.....my dad's SD has sat for months before and it started and ran instantly with no issues, like it had only been off for a day! Same for the 300D, it sat in the garage 4.5 months and fired up/drove away without complaint....we didn't even have to touch the battery!

That has been my experience as well. My recently acquired 240D sat in the garage for almost 5 years before I started it up. The tires were dry rotted and the battery was flat but after charging it up it cranked, fired, and idled just like it was supposed to. I don't ever touch the throttle pedal when starting mine up but it's not exactly cold here.

Everytime I parked either car for a few months or 6-7 months in the case of the SDL, they smoked like a freight trian when fired up.

I yank the batteries and put them on trickle charge, so they are always ready to go.

I *always* have to hold it 1/2 way or more down until the engine catches and then it is good. Same with my old engine.
