Isnt he a forum treasure....
I guess I need to get more agressive with selling Smash.

I wish I was bold enough to make the offers, asking prices, and shameless plugs he makes. I'm awed on a daily basis.

I figured it out... there must be like 20-25 guys in all of US who have pretty much bought up most of these old W123s... I only one one, and that one does not run all that well, and here in Omaha they do not come up for sale often, harldy ever really

See, it wasn't that hard was it.

I keep putting off making a For Sale post for Smash in the Cars section. I have a much harder time parting with mine than some folks. I'm barely over selling the Squash. I miss that car dearly as I know I will miss Smash, but I guess I really don't need both wagons......
I just hate the whole selling process. I don't suffer low-ballers well at all.....

The guy I bought Smash from totaled his '09 Vette a month or two ago and made a "sure wish I had that car back" comment the other day. Hmmmmm......

Hope he had gap insurance on the vette, otherwise he's in trouble.

Ok ,when is the cheap wagon Meet ,you cant have a club without an annual meet ,come on.Wagons all nestled in a circle ,I can see it now, on some dusty spread of land ,maybe R Leo will invite us back out to the ranch again soon. The annual summers Centerville meet could match up as a double meet for such an event ,after the meet I know of a camp up near Centerville that would put us up in their airstream trailers .hollandranch .com

Yes, but I haven't been aggressive selling it as I use it daily still. I really want to clean it up and take some pics prior to an official For Sale thread. But I have been mentioning it here and there when a thread pops up and it's appropriate.

Well - I am now a MB owner as I have also joined the cheap wagon ranks in the process - at least I think I have.

I bought a 1988 MB 300TE Wagon with 254,xxx miles on the vehicle - at some-point in it's life it had a low mileage 90,xxx used engine from Calli installed and the trans rebuilt in the "recent" history according to the previous owner - either way the car didn't start because it needed a "$200 sensor" said the owner. Well that turned out to be a $46 Coolant temp sensor and a used Fuel Pump Relay my friend happened to have in stock - cost was future part favor. Title and tags were $145 - PA has a new $75 state fee for nothing which made it so much. Point is - I bought this car for $200 and it runs and drives well so far.

The bad;
The clear coat is shot - oh well
The Tires are the wrong profile - no biggie ( I will fix that )
Needs an alignment
Needs rear cradle bushings most likely - it pushes the car left when accelerating. (kind of strange)
Cruise Control In-Op
Pneumatic Locks In-Op
A/C Not Blowing cold - may just need a charge as the compressor doesn't turn on
Turn Signals Do Not Cancel (I can deal)
Washer Pumps Do Not Operate
Windshield Was Cracked - Installed New for $196 from AAA as member
Driver headlamp bezel was broken - friend also had a pair in stock (replaced)

Total invested in car so far - $587

The car:
