there is a fella in Cali what put his 123 TD body on a datsun(?) 4x4 ex cab pickup frame. used the mb engine and the stock divorced T case. sweet looking ride...
he also did this one- but I cant find pics of the TD, or the web addy....

A 617 in a early bronco would be sweet. I had a diesel scout - 100 hp, 180 ft-lbs out of a 3.3L straight six. It drove just fine, had about as much pickup as my 4-cyl Jeep TJ.
I knew a guy who put a 617 in a Scout traveller, I think he did a divorced t-case too.

I think your best bet is to buy the sm465 adapter that the rover guy makes. This will allow you to have a married t-case which is very important for your short wheelbase. I agree that the 617 will be a great swap for that vehicle. I own a diesel Scout, and it has plenty of get up and go, granted it is not in stock trim.
