A 617 in a early bronco would be sweet. I had a diesel scout - 100 hp, 180 ft-lbs out of a 3.3L straight six. It drove just fine, had about as much pickup as my 4-cyl Jeep TJ.
I knew a guy who put a 617 in a Scout traveller, I think he did a divorced t-case too.

My uncle had one of those Broncos... a 1973. Totally restored, like new.
I remember backing it up one time down a hill and the brakes went out! I had to run it into a wood pile to stop it! Good ole' single line master cylinder had went out without warning!

The dual circuit mc will bolt on. This is the first thing I did with my bronco and again with my scout. I also did it with my 64 studebaker cruiser. You just have to take your single circuit of that era in and match it up with the slightly later dual circuit of the same overall design.
An easy and excellant upgrade. Tom W

I think your best bet is to buy the sm465 adapter that the rover guy makes. This will allow you to have a married t-case which is very important for your short wheelbase. I agree that the 617 will be a great swap for that vehicle. I own a diesel Scout, and it has plenty of get up and go, granted it is not in stock trim.
