Now see, here I disagree. In a thirty year old car its just as likely that the other axle has been replaced once already.

If you knew both were original then it would make sense.

I did notice on one of the axles I removed from Smash that the boot securing clamps had an MB logo stamped on them. I imagine that one is either an original or was replaced a long time ago......
