Front License Plate

My front license plate HOLDER is not on my car. On the bottom of it are two clips that slip into hte bumper. It also came with 4 screws. Do I need to screw the actual holder in to the bumper? I can't emagine it would be secure enough to be held on solely with those bottom clips. If I have to put the screws through my bumper face are there any marks. I've had anohter care I had to do this with but it wasn't almost 10 years old when I did it. There are a lot of little marks on the front of the bumper....Thanks!

There is a bracket that mounts to the bumper which the plate screws onto.

I described that wrong. It's the bracket that holds the plate I am wanting to know about how to attach to my bumper. I bought the car used in a state that didn't require a front plate and Ohio does. It came with the bracket just not attached to the car.

I had to do the same 4 years ago. I don't remember how it attached but do know I did not have to drill any holes.

Give me a few hours and I'll take a look at it.

*edit* so much for memory....I didn't use the bracket on mine; just a chrome metal frame and the plate with two screws at the top. Sits at an angle (swept back) rather than protruding plumb from the front bumper.
