Headlight problems

I have a '85 300D that I have lost both hi-beam headlights. Fuses both check good but I get no power at the bulb connectors when in the hi-beam position. I also have a used turn signal/hi-beam stalk from a parted out car. I plugged it in and nothing changes. I've read that the W123's didn't have headlight relays, so what else am I missing?

If the low beams work, the combination switch can be the only culprit, unless both fuse 7 and fuse 9 are both NG, simultaneously.

Of course, you could have corrosion problems in the socket at the lamps...............
