Peter - its syn ATF oil. I meant to say that. I guess on second reading of my posting, auto oil could mean also engine oil.

Less rolling resistance. One of the advantages of synthetic lubricants. Kerry: ATF may and may not be up to the job -- I know some manufacturers use it in rear diffs, but they are probably designed for it (as in gears made of appropriate materials and correctly hardened for the lubricant). I'd check with a more knowledgable person than me before I'd use it for a prolonged period. It is MUCH lower viscosity at all temps than 90 wt anything, and the loads are higher than in the gear sets in a transmission. Peter
