E300D remote start/entry

Is there one that will work with this model ('95 E300D). A search just showed some old info. Thanks

W124 cars have a switch at all three key positions (driver and passenger doors, trunk or tailgate) to operate the pump that works the vacuum locks. The remote needs to be wired to mimic one of those switches. Should be easy, all you need is the receiver and the keychain remote.

Remote start of a diesel is a larger challenge – most are made for gassers. It's possible that someone sells one made for the job or you could modify one to do what you want.

Do you guy's '95's have the feature where you can "flick" the starter switch and it will crank until the engine starts?

My buddy had a '97 with an aftermarket remote start but I forgot the name. My truck has a Clifford alarm/starter and it has a diesel glow plug light input where it will wait until the light goes out to start the engine.

I have a viper (same as clifford) on my diesel truck. It works fine for that. I just wondered if something else was better for the mercedes diesel.

You might try a search on the tdi club, not too long ago iread something over there about an inexpensive remote setup they were using rather than trying to repair the original. Some of the VWs have a lock system very similar to the MB system Don

For what it's worth this is what viper sent back.

A remote start system can be added to your Mercedes but it may require an additional part for the vacuum ignition switch.
It is an electronic vacuum control valve. This vehicle will not remote start without it. The part # 001-540-8697. The part is available through the Benz dealer or NAPA auto parts.

As for help with a viper product for programming or installation; I do apologize but unfortunately, we cannot provide you with installation or programming information because of the liability involved. Viper is Authorized dealer install product only. The information is proprietary to Authorized dealers and agreements. Viper Alarm manuals are not written nor is the product designed for the end user. The product is for trained professionals that have an understanding of our features, installation requirement and recommendations.
