W202 C220, 1995 diesel leaking, please help

Hello ewerybody,

i am temporarly in UK, so i came here with my car, Mercedes C220 diesel 1995 year. At start i saw a leaking diesel after engine off, not such a little amount, so i brang that car to service, they opened covers and founded leakege on top of pump, so they refused to fix and i found new service, Diesel service Center, the guys from thet garage said they know problem, so they changed to me solenoid on top of fuel pump for 410 GBP, i thout it is finish, but after one day i looked and i saw i leaking again, but less than before, so i returned to that garage, they changed another solenoid, on side and o rongs all ( maybe ), i paid another 400, now after three weeks i again can faind leaking it is much less, but anyway its leaking, the interesting thing is, leaking comes inn 4 - 5 hours after engine off. PLEASE HELP ME, I DON'T know what to do with this car. One more thing i can see bubbles in system then engine working, and seems after fuel filter comes more bubbles, and after engine stop, the clear pipe of diesel which comes to fuel filter slowly becomes empty. Car is running without problems, engine works clearly. If anybody knows whats happening please write. I don't want to return to those technincians, because they will take another sum of money for nothing

In reading your post, you mention leakage on top of the "pump". If you are talking about the injection pump, then your leak may be coming from the delivery valve seals. This is where the hard lines are connected to the injection pump. You also mention solenoids being replaced along with o rings. That might be the shutoff valve, but the prices you quoted are well above the cost of replacement. All told, you have paid about $1200 in U.S. dollars for repairs that have not corrected your problem. At the prices you paid, the garage should have some type of warranty regarding the repairs made, and the quality of their work. If they refuse to correct your problem, I would then use whatever government agencies cover consumer disputes. If you used a credit card to pay for the repairs, I would contact them to see what avenues are available to you regarding shoddy workmanship. Best of luck..

Yours was not a engine that we ever got here in the USA. You might have better luck on the UK forum.

You dont say that yours is a CDI engine so I am surmising that it is not. THat said, your IP does rely on oring seals at the ends of a couple of plastic fuel lines from filter to IP, etc. Those orings do deterioate over time and allow air to enter causing bubbles, hard starts and on occassion rough running.

I would start with checking those connetions and/or replacing those lines and/or orings. They are usually fairly inexpensive.

The 2.2 CDI engine appears to use more plastic fuel lines than yours.
