I think he's leaving this afternoon... I would totally be driving my truck for something like this... The most adventurous thing I've done recently was flying to Houston and driving the E300 back to NC, sight unseen, no known service records...

OOF. I hurt.

Been quite a day ripping things our and getting close. Electronics are a total mess. If there was ever a reason to gut it electronics are it. There are 3 sources of power, 2 batteries for the chassis + one for the cab, the gas generator and a land line. In the battery area there is one long line (+?) that runs to the solenoid. Then there are two more wires with terminals that run into some bosch contraption that says 12v/24v. I think this is the system that allows it to start as 24v and charge individually as 12v. AFAIK there is no alternator like in a regular car? According to the "bible" the generator is designed to run continuously to recharge and electrify the entire system.

Anyways both of my service manuals say nothing about the starter. We are going to pull the 0 gauge wire and run it into the cab and then put the batteries in series in the cab. + from the battery goes to the solenoid, I can wire the ground to the engine it self right? Then there are 2 smaller wires on the solenoid, these are the two that I jump to turn it over right?

Anyone? Bueller?

Pics to come (not many batteries died).

No way is this thing coming back this weekend. It has sat for fourTEEN years not FOUR, as the license plate has 95 exp date. However I have a treasure trove of data including the newspaper clipping from the purchase, all the tag registration data going back to the original purchase. Maps with flag marks on it all kinds of stuff.

Yes, I think you should be able to hook the negative to the engine and then just jump the wires.
Have you tried turning the engine by hand?
Never heard of a motorhome without an alternator. Does it have an alternator bracket? You'd think it'd come from the factory with an alternator.
14 yrs is a long time. If it resurrects there's a good chance it could serve as the basis for a new religion.

Yeah, soak those cylinders in oil before you hotwire the starter

Cool! Now, hopefully, the clutch disk isn't fused to the flywheel/pressure plate...

Cool. I haven't been able to get the video to download yet, but I believe you. Did you move it or just start it? Did you get rims for the rear wheels?

Great! It seemed to freewheel for a long time when it shut off at the end, like a old radial airplane engine.
