Benz then and Now, some pics

I just took some pics of my buddies Benz next to mine. Thought some might like to see them. I just won an ebay auction for new fog lights, too, so I can't wait to put them in.

Is yours the W123? nice looking car. the CLS looks fast just sitting there.

Good god, but the new Benz's are kinda homely! Rather have the W123 300D! At least it looks like a Benz!

I agree with the comment above. The CLS looks fast just sitting there. I love my 123, but that CLS is *****in'!

Yet another reminder as to one huge reason I like the classics.

Like Cadillac, Mercedes has completely lost its brand identity.
Give me one good reason that looks like a Mercedes besides the thee-point star.
As to the W123, one of the most timeless, identifiable car designs on the road.
No offense to your friend- I'm sure his newer car rides light years smoother and more refined than our old clunkers.

There is no comparison between the two in styling and class, I wouldn't trade either of my 123s for a late model MB.

I agree with the crowd... I always think that the new C class looks like it is melting when I see one. The worst thing to happen to German cars since they bombed the ball bearing factory in WWII is Chris Bangle. He has ruined BMW and forced MB to drop all there traditional cues in their styling. The new C class looks like a Lexus and don't get me stared on the bustle-back S class YUCK

The W123 just looks CLASSY sitting there. Just the right amount of chrome, understated wheels, room inside for comfortable cruising, fantastic proportions, AND it has lasted over 20 years -- can't beat that with a stick!

Probably gets better mpg than the C class too

I tend to think all newer cars look too similar... The older ones just look distinctive, you can easily tell that its a benz..

Thats because the Japanese and Koreans (Kia specifically) have been trying to copy the style.

I disagree. I recently had the opportunity to drive my friend's '07 C-class. Before that, I never (!) sat in a newer car than a W124 or a W126, for the exact reason you're stating. I was surprised that although there are 20+ years in between my cars and his, I immediately felt comfortable with all the controls. Every single button was clearly identifiable, most symbols didn't even change, even the approximate position on the dash is similar. This unique "Mercedes"-feeling clearly is still there.
