Guide rod joint replacement
Before I even start I'm sure I left something out but this is how I remember doing it. I did this on a 1983 300SD (126 series)
Notes on changing guide rod support joint This is what I did but it may not work for every one. Before you start measure the distance from the side of #77 to the side of #110 1) You can see where the guide rod joint sticks through the bracket (circled in red). This part of the joint has a hex (bolt shape) and you can turn in the threaded part of the joint all the way into the rod #92 so there is less tention on the bracket and then unbolt the bracket and knock out the old joint. 2) Install the new joint into the bracket 3) Have someone use a wrecking bar, pipe or what ever to pry the lower arm #77 forward a little so you can start the threaded part of the new joint into the bracket and screw it in all the way. Now rebolt the bracket to the car, you may need someone to pry the lower arm forward a little to do this. 4) After you have the bracket bolted to the car then turn the joint back out until you reach the length that the assembly was before you started. 5) Get the front end aligned.

It has my car in the bottom left corner but yea it's for a 1983 300SD and I edited the original to reflect that.

use a ratchet strap to the front bumper mount for pulling LCA forward. no chance of a pry bar slipping and loosing a finger. plus it is easy one human to do.
^^ I was gonna say that don't look nothing like my car.......
