Find paper manuals and read them .
They have warnings which almost never get communicated in the advice from any online forum. They also include the situations where multiple styles of parts were put on different cars and how to make sure you are all matched up.
I think both the Haynes ( for better pictures ) and the MB FSM are required on most jobs.
Haynes leaves out a lot of stuff that is clearly important... that info can be filled in by the FSM.. which has a lot of gaps in communicating procedures... assumes you can read their minds....

Thank you!!

Thank you DIESELVOLVO!!

DIESELVOLVO came over this morning and helped me get the car started. Turns out I had a bad glow plug, and still a bit of air in the hard lines. Replaced the glow plug, dropped a fresh battery, and off she goes.

Onward and upward with the repairs!!!

You're welcome. Good luck with it and keep in touch.

For everybody else on here I will semi-hijack this thread to say that despite my user name I am a big fan of MB diesels but mostly of German engineering and Diesels in general. Lets just say my fleet includes VW ,MB, Isuzu and Yanmar Diesels. I will not list them all for fear that people may think I have problem which maybe I do but in any case I am happy to be on here and meeting more Diesel enthusiasts.

Thanks for the great forum....

I'm in Upton MA, near 495 and the pike. Make my own BD, also runs WVO/RUG blends in three MBs. Do all my own maint. With 5 kids and a busy job, I have very little time. Would like to squeeze in a GTG if I have enough notice.

Heard a good quote this week..."To be rich is to have money. To be wealthy is to have time"

Diy bd

I would love to see your biodiesel setup sometime and/or maybe help you make a batch, you know, once my car works. I'll definitely keep you in mind if... strike that... when we do a GTG.
