I would agree depending on the details of the trip. i.e. How many people, luggage, hauling stuff . . .

Both cars need a lot of work. I don't know about you but I go on trips to have fun and don't want to work on old, rusty, greasy cars on the side of the road 1k miles from home, or have to worry about it.

Go rent a car.

For some in our crowd, that's actually considered fun.

Get the codes checked free at the auto parts store,if it is a misfire change the plug wires along with the plugs,10 yr old wires are always suspect.if that cures the misfire take the Buick, if not the rental is your best option. Don

Yah, well here I am, and that's right, it's a great idea!!

But the Ford, or it's identical brother, the Mercury Grand Marquis, won't have quite the seat comfort of that old diesel, which has seats designed by orthopedic back surgeons.

If there will be no back issues, the big Mercury or Ford will do fine.

Also, people will give way and move over when they see you coming; they will think it's a Police car behind them.

Not so much fun in ice, snow or freezing rain!
Get the Buick tested to see if it's something minor that's easy to fix, or won't fry the converter or waste the engine. Otherwise, rent somthing thrifty

Happy Motoring, Mark

I had a focus, they don't get 35 MPG.
