The guys with the v12 jags definitely get the kewpie doll. I used to have to work on those things once in a while and had to fight off an urge to take a hammer to my hands to break every bone in them so they could bend enough to get down in there

No such thing as a Pontiac big block. All Pontiac blocks are the same outside dimensions. Send us a picture of you sitting on a lawn chair inside your Chevy's hood!

I have seen 1957 Chevys with the small Blue Flame six and it looks like you can set up housekeeping under the hood...

Red fluid probably. Let me know if you ever need parts I have 3 DS21 cars plus 3 Tractions with ID engines. I have been redoing these cars forever, pls also let me know if you ever decide to sell.

I was not joking about the "Remove Engine" instruction from the Lexus Repair Manual for a water pump replacement. A friend and I were able to lift the engine out enough to get to water pump housing without removing the entire unit from the engine bay.

My sister had a Ford Escort back in the 80's. The mechanic told my sister it was:

1-Unscrew & Remove gas/fuel cap,
2-install new car
3-Screw Gas/Fuel Cap back on

All cars/trucks should be built like the Triumph Spitfire or Herald/Vitesse.

Plus you get to sit on the front wheel while you adjust the valves.

actually all pontiac V8s were 90 degree Vs. You may be thinking of chevrolet engines as most of them were 65 degree small blocks some of their larger displacement engines were close to being a big block. Even the GM 3.8 V6 is a 90 degree that explains why pontiacs were know for having so much torque because they were over-square most of the displacement came from stroke. If you look at the 350 in my 69 firebird, the 400 in my dad's 67 firebird, and the 455 in his 74 GTO you can see that the cyliders make a perfect 90 degree V.

Agreed on the spark plugs, but wait until you get to change the distributor or water pump.

I see them occasionally, and DMC in Texas is re-manufacturing them somehow if you really want one. As far as the engine goes, those are easy to find. Look in any early 80's 260 or 760 non-turbo Volvo. I like mine, but I'm still getting to know my way around it.

I just finished doing the glow plugs in my 606 on Saturday. It was not an easy job to remove all the stuff to get to them, but overall it wasn't that bad. I find working on my Mercedes to be a refreshing change from other vehicles that I have owned. To quote my brother as he peered underneath my Mercedes for the first time when it was up on the lift, "It looks like it was designed by people who actually care."

I sometimes curse my Mercedes for making me remove harmonic balancer and distrbutor to redo the water pump. And then hiding that last bolt on the thermostat housing. Killing me.

oh, and my dad always said on my junker cars I should just jack up the horn button and roll a new car underneath...

I seem to recall that the Delorean had a small Buick V8. Did I dream that or am I thinking of some other car?
