I hit a curb...Now what???

Ok i was coming back form school today and some idiot decided to drive VERY close to me and my reaction is to well swerve away form that IDIOT, as i swerve i saw a curb and it was too late, i did not hit the curb directly but i rather scraped it at 45 mph and it moved my car to the right (it felt as i was traveling at 45 MPH and turn the steering wheel to right suddenly) at that speed. i have checked the tire rod and its fine and i got a free wheel alignment though the tire looks straight should i be concerned about it??

Check the tire and wheel for damage. Try driving it and see if it tracks straight. If there are no bulges in the rubber and the wheel is not bent, you are probably OK.

Check the bearing tightness, and all the suspension joints.

The rotor could have warped due to the hard braking.

Also check the tread on the tire. The belts could have shifted from the impact. Look for a wobble in the tread area.

Also, balancing weights could have been knocked loose.

Sounds like a slightly bent rim to me.

I'd imagine the aluminum wheel would bend before the (much) stronger hub/steering system....especially with that type of hit. Or the tire would be damaged internally from being deformed so much on impact....

Try moving that wheel/tire to the rear and see if that makes a difference. I would be leery of that tire after a good wallop like that....
