Wow!! Auxiliary Water Pump 20F difference

I just installed a new aux water pump and what difference it makes in temperature at idle. I bought the 1985 300D June of 07 and removed the aux water pump and replaced it with a plastic 90 deg elbow. I noticed the air from the vents would cool off after idling. So I bit the bullet and bought a new pump from Auto Parts Warehouse. The pump came today and I ordered it on Friday.

I conducted a little test to see how much increase in temperature I would get with the pump.

-engine idling at temperature
-outside temp 28 F
-all doors and windows open
-climate control set to "EC"
-temperature wheel set to max temperature

I unplugged the electrical connect to the pump and waited 5 minutes and got a reading of 102 F out of the driver's side vent. Then I plugged the pump in and waited 5 minutes and got a reading of 122 F. I noticed the engine temperature dropped from 85C to 79C.

I drive about 15 miles to work and it is a lot of stop and go. I never get above 45 mph. This should reduce heatup time and improve comfort level.

I did install the 1 amp fuse when I put the pump in. My ACC was fried when I got the car. I fixed the circuit board traces.

Thanks for reminder on the fuse. I would not want to fry the ACC unit again.
