W126 and an electrical WTF?

Ok this is a weird one. The "idiot light" on the dash is lighting up saying that I have a bad bulb but only when the fog lights are on. On occasion the dash light goes out for a few seconds but will come on again especially if I speed up on the highway. However I noticed that I can actually make it go out if I turn on something that draws a lot of power (The rear defroster for example) It gets stranger still, on a rare occasion the dash light will blink in sequence with either indicator and will also go out if I turn on my highbeams (Sometimes is stays on though) Am I looking at a bad fuse, ground or the dreaded "Other" catagory?

(And before anyone asks, the fogs are less then a year old and work perfectly and the main H4's are less then 6 months old)

Sounds like an overall grounding problem. I'd check the battery connections, chassis connections, etc.

Check ALL of your bulbs. Sounds like you may have a loose connection somewhere.

Don't forget about the little ones on the sides of the Tail lights on a W126.

BTW, your car is gorgeous.

maybe a stupid ?, but Have you actually looked at the fogs when the light says you have a bulb out? maybe theres a bad ground, and you really do have a light out.

I know the bulb failure relay's in our volvo are a common failure item, too.

x2 Classic symptoms of a bad ground.
