Need help or article on replacing glow plugs 1989 190D
My friend is having trouble starting her 89 190D in the cold. I think the glow plugs could use replacing. Can anybody point me to an article or thread on how to do this. I've replaced spark plugs before but never glow plugs. Anything you need to remove to get to the plugs?

It's fairly straightforward - remove the air filter box first so you have better access to the glow plugs.
To remove the air filter box, take its cover off and pull the filter out, and then remove the 4 nuts holding the box in place (two are on the side nearest to the front of the car, the other two are at the back by the oil filter). Pull the box off; the rubber rings that attach the air box to the intake runners are just held in place by friction. Once the air filter box is removed, you can get better access to the glow plugs; unscrew the wires first (the nuts on the wires are captive so you don't have to worry about losing them). Then, remove the plugs. Tighten the new plugs to 20Nm (15 ft-lbs).
