I have a sound!!

When I am driving about 62-64 MPH I have a wuh wuh wuh wuh wuh sound in my drivetrain. No vibrations, but if I am going slower...no sound...if I go faster...no wuh wuh wuh sound. It is a low frequncy wuh wuh wuh sound. Any ideas??

How do you know it's in the drivetrain? Sounds like it could be cheap tires to me.

is it always the same stretch of road? sometimes the weather will buckle the pavement, even seamless stretches. there is a stretch here in Tampa on I4 that makes me think I have a flat everytime I pass through there

Could be cheap tires. I have half worn out cheap Kumho tires on the front and new cheap discount tire "in house" ($40 each) back tires.

It is when you get to 62ish MPH. You cannot feel it but you can lightly hear it.

May need new front tires.

I have a sound like that once and swore it was a wheel bearing going. I had the front bearings replaced and the sound was still there. I swapped the front tires with the rear ones and the sound went to the rear. My bet is tires. Its a cheap test to try.

I will look tomorrow at the half shafts. My gut was it was either the propeller shaft or....maybe the well...I dunno. I drove the car today on a 200 mile trip. The car seems to be velvety smooth at less than 60 mph and at 75 MPH.

I do think my shocks are prolly shot. I really need to get this car up on a rack and do some under-car inspections.

ANother segue from this thread is I really would like to try some ways to deaden the sound in the cockpit of this car. When we were driving today I told my wife "quit talking so loud" then when she started talking quieter....I could not hear her!!!
Now I know I cannot compare this car to my triple door sealed, air ride suspension, 4 catyletic conveter and 4 muffler Jaguar....but jeez!! This thing has as much cabin noise as my Jeep...and the Jeep is a rag top!!!

There are no grommets in the firewall that are bad, but I am missing my hood pad.

What are the most "value added" mods to quieting the cabin noise? I am not hearing wind noise, just very MECHANICAL sounds.

Thanks...and keep the ideas for both issues coming!!!

Buying a pair of these would probably be cheaper than throwing parts at your car...

In all seriousness, it's impossible to diagnose sounds/noises over the internet...I suggest you take your car to a mechanic.
