Finished installing injectors
I finally got past my Christmas backache and put the rebuilt injectors in my 240TD. It idles smoother, smoke at startup is virtually gone and the extremely irritating tapping at #4 is history! Actually, it drives like a different car it made such an improvement. I'm assuming the injectors in it were the originals with 179K on them.

where did you get the replacements? I'm looking into doing this very soon and have no idea where to locate rebuilt or good used injectors...

Use turbo injectors on turbo engines.
I had a set tested, they said they were OK, but I couldn't leave well enough alone, and installed new Bosch injectors, same springs. Didn't notice any difference. That car passed away shortly thereafter, so I pulled the injectors, still have 'em. So, you may want to make sure the injectors are the culprit. In the two cars I have now, 212k on the SD, 126k on the CD, both have the original injectors AFAIK.
