Husband hates working with me. . .Hood Cable
I think my husband hates working with me.
We went out to jimmy-rig a new way to open the hood of the 81 SD. The cable came out of the interior of the car and was just sort of hanging out the front of the car. I have gloves that I use to pull the cable and pop the hood. Has worked pretty well since the cable tried to run away. Last week the cable actually came apart from the car when he was trying to open it so I rethreaded it. Tom decided he wanted to install a 'handle' on the front of the car so he could open it easier. I thought it a good idea and we went to get 'stuff' to make a handle. His car, his idea, his stuff. All good. A 6 inch lead pipe with closure fittings on each end, hole screwed through it shortways, cable threaded through, wrapped and cable clamped. Acutally works pretty well. Pics if anyone wants them, post and I'll take and put some up. Anyway, when we were working, there were a few times when I was right and he wasn't. Him-'We need to cut the end of the cable so it isn't so splayed.' 'No, I'd rather not cut anything in case we need the extra length, I'll wrap it in tape.' Him- 'Tape won't work and will cause bulk so it won't fit into the hole.' He goes to get a cutter. I tape the stupid cable and have to threaded through the cable clamp and pipe before he gets back. He's mad. I want to get it done and try it out (it's 42* outside!! I'm cold) and he wants to wait an hour to let the battery charge more. In an hour the air will fall into the 30s and I'm already cold. So I tell him that I'd rather try now. He acts like a child (gets over it QUICK, he doesn't linger in anger) and unplugs the battery charger and unclamps the battery. I roll my eyes. He doesn't see me. It works and we finish the job. He never LETS me win at raquetball, do I have to LET him win when we work on things together? This was a small example and no one is angry, but sometimes it gets bad. It doesn't stop us from working together. Anyway, if anyone wants to see the jimmy-rig pipe, let me know. Thanks

FWIW, I think you're super cool anyway for taking an interest in and working on the cars.
![]() Second, I wouldn't have gone ahead and taped the cable. He needed to find out for himself if his idea would work. You could have just said, "I'm getting cold, do you need me to help you get this finished?" If not, go back in and let him finish it himself.
