Off track but is your VW a gasser? Replace the coil packs?
We sold my wifes 00 VR6 after I took it to the dealership for a cracked pan. As usual they replaced multitude of burnt bulbs. I watched the tail light go out (just replaced mind you) when leaving the dealership. I'd had enough of that. GL on the GP issue. Did you verify that the plugs were getting 12+V and 50A?

Next time take the injector hard lines out for much better access and no scraped knuckles.. I replaced 5 glow plugs in a 300D for someone on the forum a month ago working outside in front of his house, it was pretty cold, about 30F. Took me about 1 hour start to finish.
I am also having intermittent no starts when it's cold (single digit) in my 300D. Sometimes I get the glow plug light, sometimes not. Relay always clicked. I took the cover off the glow plug relay, cleaned the relay contacts with 600 grit paper., also cleaned all connector pins, and tightened the strip fuse screws, which was not on very tight. It's working ok for now. Quote:

Did not tighten the fuse strip but did clean the female side of the connector. I'll clean the post as you suggest, do the female sides again, and tighten fuse strip.
I did check voltage across fuse strip and it was 12.5 at one point if I recall correctly.
