Do I need to shorten my driveshaft?

I'm doing an engine swap, putting my 300sd engine into a 1989 420SEL. I've got the engine set in place, but have no play between the transmission yoke and the driveshaft. I don't recall how much play there was when I removed engines, but I think there should be some movement to slide driveshaft away from flex disc. Do I need to shorten my driveshaft slightly?
