help me hot-wire the "gm benz"!

hey guys,

Its time to get this thing started!

I have the engine ground cable and positive cable hooked up to an optima red top, but I don't know which connections to short on the starter solenoid.

the strange thing is, I was able to get the starter to budge last weekend by shorting out two of those terminals, but now all I can get is a few sparks, but absolutely no movement of the solenoid or starter.

Go from the small wire to the top lug and you do need a good solid connection. You just need to get a good angle on it and make good solid contact between the two.

You may also need a good eng. to frame ground.

Well you could just change the oil and dump a few quarts in the tank with the gallon of stale gas that's in there, throw in a quart of ATF for good measure and fire it up!!

Seriously though, good luck with it. I am enjoying the progress almost as much as you I am sure.

Always glad to see any old Chevy truck being put to good use. One of my 67s' is enjoying work on a local farm. That is the one with the 292 in it. I let them borrow it so it can keep working instead of collecting rust here at my place as I really do not need two heavy duty trucks. So I let the farm use it and get paid to keep her running which is a fair trade I think.

yeah, I went from two working vehicles to none in 2 days unfortunately i drastically underestimated how long this would take. I had 2 weeks off at christmas and started the swap at my parents place, but then had to rent a car for 4 weeks to get to this point. that got expensive real quick...
