Got less than 3 years from W123 engine mounts!! I had the engine mounts replaced a few years ago when somebody rebuilt the front end for me. I don't know what kind of engine mounts he used, but probably Worldpac stuff. I just had this awful vibration. I had adjusted the rack dampner ad nauseum. I didn't really consider the engine mounts at first since they had been done so recently. Well, finally took a good look at them as this vibration could only be from the engine resting on the cross member. Sure enough they were very compressed. I installed Cortego mounts this evening and if I only get a few years out of these then I will go with OEM mounts next time. What kind of life have some of you been getting? The replacement didn't go too badly. Sure is easier on a 240!! The lower 8mm allen screws both came loose and out pretty easily. The 2 6mm allens that hold the mounts to the frame are always fun. At least the inside bolt is! I had to jack up the engine, try to line up an engine shock with it's hole and use a prybar to get the engine to sit right in the center of the mounts. All this while trying to time the lowering of the jack/engine. At least once lined up the lower 2 bolts threaded themselves into the aluminum mounting arms easily. That is always the fearful part. Well, that is engine mounts on 2 cars in 2 nights. Did the E300 last night. Sure is different going from the W124 to the W123 on this job. I don't worry about jacking up the OM617 at all, but that OM606 made me nervous. Oh well, two very smooth idling cars now. So, again, what kind of life are yall getting from engine mounts?
