I put Gabriel shock on my 74 240 D which I use mainly on Forest Service roads, they were $29.00 each at Kenects and seem fine for this type driving....

FWIW, I have OE (recently purchased from MBZ) Sachs/BOGE struts on my 500E. They replaced identical pieces, which were removed as it now seems for no good reason

So, I 'd presume this manufacturer produces top-quality stuff.

I've attached a link that describes their shock lines (it was the first link that showed up on a Search)

http://www.forparts.com/boge.htm

Good luck!

Maybe it's the difference in models? I don't know, but when I asked about Gabriel I was told there were none for my application and all that was available was KYB or the dealer. So I assumed the same for Monroe.

Learn something new everyday.

Knecht,s auto Part's in Florence Or. ordered the Gabreial gas shocks for me for my 74 240D and when they came in they had ordered four front shocks,Les Schwab a western tire chain store had the rear shocks in stock.since it's a 800 dollar car that I use on the back roads I did not want to spend the 300 + dollars for Bilstiens , when it's shock replacement time on my SD I will go with OEM shocks....

I got the Gabriels I put on the 220D at Autozone. I think they had to order them, came the next day.

I wouldn't use them again, they don't ride like the Bilteins.

As other members have already suggested, Bilstein is the way to go. B4s are great; if you're looking for something even more stiff, go with the B6s.
