Differnce From A 1980 to 1981 240D
Is there a difference from a 1980 and a 1981 240D? I read that the 1981 has more HP then a 1980 240D. Is this true? Anything else different?

There are about three different hp versions of the 240 engine.
You would not want to assume by year an engine was one or the other.. but should check the engine serial number. I am on the way out of the house... if someone has not posted the numbers before I get back I will find them at that time. On old cars which could have had one or more engine swaps it is even more important if you are really interested in getting the ' really powerful version of the 240d engine'.... LOL |

I read that somewhere that 81 had a differnet head desgin which it made powerful. The owners manual says that it has a 65hp (I think) engine. A list would be great!

I also have an 81 240D and I have wondered this same question. It seems that nothing is the same on the 82 and that there are some other differences with between the 80 and 81. The Russian MB site says that mine is a CA version, but it has no EGR or anything like that. I have had a hard time finding a vacuum diagram for my car. No diagram I have seen matches my car exactly. Do you have a diagram or any other helpful info on the 81?
