Need help with 83 300d auto trans
I have a 1983 300D that I have been driving trouble free for two years. I bought it with 247k onit and it now has 264k. The PO had the trans rebuilt at 215k. The fluid level is fine. The problem is this. When I start from a stop and give any more than just a little pedal, it seems to slip for about two seconds then goes. After that all shifts and downshifts are fine. I can hear a smooth like spinning sound from the transmission area when it is slipping then it seems to catch and go fine. Any ideas?

Does the fluid smell burned?

Could be a B2 piston. I wonder if during the rebuild they installed an improved unit or reused the old style.

If it was worn clutches it would slip at higher rpm when the engine is developing peak power.
Sounds like a sticky b2 piston. Probably old style not updated.

I'm going to have an Indy look at it Friday. I'll post the results.
