Nice job! I got mine for $700. Even after all of the work I've done, its still a cheap car - and I feel confident in driving it anywhere!

From memory in the last two and a half years, probably forgot some things:

Rebuilt the transmission - all new soft parts, many new bearings, new (used) K2 assembly and support
Mobil 1 ATF at first change - about 2000 miles later
Battery
Repaired broken wires to left rear window - broken inside the rubber hinge bellows
Repaired broken seat springs
Hazard flasher switch
Various bulbs
OVP relay
ELR relay
Valve lifters - first just the two that were bad, later the remainder
Serpentine belt
Belt tensioner, damper, idler
Nice F/R carpets
Starter
Alternator
AC compressor, condenser, expansion valve, receiver/drier, pressure switch
R134
Front pads and rotors
Rear pads and rotors
Flush brake system
Windshield (due to terrible pitting)
Lower ball joints
Front springs (one had 1/2 a broken coil)
Front control arm bushings
Front Bilstein comfort shocks, boots, bump stops
Front strut mounts
Idler arm bushings
Tie rods
Steering damper
Alignment
Partial rear suspension rebuild - the worst of the arms, the rest TBD.
Driveshaft flex discs
Tires
Bought 3 good used rims for snows
Heater core
Replaced foam seals on climate control flaps
Climate control push button unit
Climate control fan switch
Relamped entire cluster
Repaired odometer
Oil filler cap o-ring
Fuel filler surround boot
Engine thermostat
Various temperature switches for EGR, fan, etc.
Throttle cable plastic bushing on lever - engine end
Driver's door lock cylinder (now need passenger door side...)
Front speakers
Upgraded Becker stereo with aux input
iPod charger/line amp
Cleaned and lubed aspirator fan motor
Front engine mounts
Cylinder head (old one cracked)
Chain tensioner rail
Oil chain tensioner rail
Water pump
Glow plugs
Front crank seal
IP delivery valve seals
IP shut off lever shaft seal
Breather piping
Fuel tank strainer & filters
Fuel thermostat o-ring
IP mount o-ring
Cruise control actuator link (ball socket worn, kept falling off)
Routine oil changes with Mobil-1 0W-40

TBD:
Rear suspension rebuild completion including shocks
Change diff oil to Mobil 1
Repair rocker panel rust
Passenger side lock cylinder
Troubleshoot glow plug relay - light comes on inconsistently, starts sometimes poorly
Block heater
Small under seat subwoofer (Blaupunkt)
Replace or lube blower motor (noisy)
Would love to find really nice front door inner panels in red
Whatever she throws at me next

Paid $500 for the car... silly me.

Maybe this thread should be a sticky titled:
Ain't no such thing as a cheap Mercedes-

That said, I've been financially lucky on both my vehicles, the only downside is the amount of weekend time I spend fiddling. At a certain point, you've got to consider your labor as if you were getting paid. If I did that, I'd probably be better off flipping burgers.

I washed mine today. Does that count? Actually, at first thought it would be something to be proud of, but then it seems kind of depressing to total it all up. So I will enter this....

WHATEVER IT TAKES TO KEEP IT CHUGGING

On Norm just since I got him:

New climate control servo
New Aux water pump
New glow plugs
Ground wire to get cluster functional
New tires (2)
Greasecar kit

And that's it. There are a few things I want to take care of as well! That'll be in the near future.

I have to redo it... the last half of the book is in different page protectors. I ran out of Avery brand which are really nice and I thought I picked the same kind up at staples but nope, they were a cheaper brand and the quality is not the same.

So I need more and I do need to put the receipts from the dealership in some better order.

I put it in page protectors, Hatty had them 3 hole punched and put in the binder.. I like page protectors.. I think there are over 500 receipts in there plus a 2" stack of recipts from other places(register reciepts)

plus its broken up into sections...first section, parts order, second half work done to car in order by date, third.. documents related to the car

I'll probably sit down and do that this weekend when I'm not doing work or homework then add up every reciept to truly see how much was put into this money pit. I found a notecard in with the stuff and it had like "current total, $11k and some change"... that was like almost near the middle

plus... I now have a massive binder of records to show off to my delorean friends that also have massive binders... thats what gets the chicks.. massive binders...

I like organization...

iWrock probably has me beat though... oh well guess I'll just have to start throwing money at the car for fun
