722.3 vs. 722.4
I read the OM606 in to a w123 chassis, and saw the tranny statement that the '85 w123 used the 722.4 tranny.
What is the difference between the 722.3 and the 722.4? If I had to replace the tranny in my '82 (722.3) would the 722.4 be a drop in replacement? Thanks!

The 722.3 is a much more ROBUST transmission.

If I recall comparing the two side by side. I believe the latter is a lighter weight tranny. But I could be wrong.

I've got a 722.403 laying around if anyone wants to buy it.
 $150....anyone? It has 160k and a damaged holder for the speedo sensor.

Where is this information (about the 722.4 being "weaker") coming from?
