W123 Subframe bushing seating
Ok so I finally got around to changing my rear subframe mounts.
First set back was getting the Passanger side main bolt completely out. Finally the bolt broke loose after I broke a 1/2" non-Craftsman 15 inch breaker bar. I purchased a craftsman 18 inch breaker bar. Using it and some pipe the bolt finally started to move slowly. I was afraid I had broke it but was not the case. So now I have the mount pryed out and the issue now is installing the new mount. I've read what I could find here and using some wood I made a jig so that I could push the mount into the hole using a floor jack. The jib supports the outer ring of the mount not the center portion. Also I used some silcone grease. After all this it still will only go so far and not seat completely. I'm wondering if I didn't use enough force ( I didn't life the entire car yet)? I'm wondering if I didn't use enough grease/lube ? I'm wondering after comparing the old to the new if it would hurt to shave the new mount to allow it to go in ? I'm also wondering if the 40ish degree weather today is making that new rubbber harder to work with? I took some photos of where I am so far and maybe some of you that have done this before can give me some answers or ideas.

I put my bushings in the freezer overnight and then coated them with dishwashing liquid before installation. The real trick to getting them in is to use just your long bolt (maybe one washer - I can't remember) and pound the bolt with a hammer until you hear it make contact. Then tighten the bolt which will draw the bushing into place. Then remove the bolt, add all of the washers and whatever else is supposed to be there and re-tighten.

Thanks for the thoughts, but I thought I've heard people say that we should not push up using the center of the mount ?

There was a good write up I think by WHUNTER on a w126, doing his bushings, couldn`t find it.
here is a good list to look at. www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=142397 Charlie

success!!!!!!!! well I think of it that way..
Well a little 1/2" threaded rod and some bolts metal and washers and I was able to force the bushings in. Passenger side still didn't go all the way in but I figured I'll watch it and give it some tightening.
The Drivers side was so fast I'm still wondering if I missed something. It appeared to go all the way in.

I had a very easy time with one meyle mount. The second one would not seat no matter what. Finally got the bolt in but there was a decent (1/4”) gap. After 80 miles of driving it’s more like 1/8”.
Mine was the same, D/S was much easier than P/S.
