Looks like VW has done it too. They have a VR6 -1.

If so they are inline. VW had had 5 cylinders for years, my Mom's 80's Quantum was a 5 cylinder. It could haul butt too.

The 2.5l in 2006+ VW's is indeed a inline 5cyl, but it's unrelated to the old Quantum/Audi 5cyl.

The "VR6 -1" is called (amazingly enough), the VR5! It's out of production now.
Here's a sound clip of one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rSn1KCdlxw&feature=related

That's sad that they have owned the car for 9! years and can't figure out that the car's engine is inline. It would only take a second to pop the hood.

That's what mystified me about that posting. If it was just a flip, I could understand never looking under the hood and not understanding general engine anatomy. But if they've really owned it nine years and have never had to deal with the mechanism that makes it go, it must be a mighty reliable car. Odd that he is forthcoming about the seat adjusting motor but doesn't know the shape of the engine. Everybody's got their priorities.

You're assuming they've popped the hood sometime in those 9 years.

Inline 5, half of a Lambo V10

In Europe they also got the VR5. VR6-1 cyl. As I recall they had about 150 HP.
