Steering Gearbox Leaks
When I bought my 300SD it had a leaky power steering pump. I refilled it a LOT before I was able to pull it off and refresh the seal.
Unfortunately, at one point I had to put Tranny Fluid into the pump as I couldn't get any PS Fluid and I was way too low. My seals are now gone on my Steering Gearbox...I fill the pump up and after a couple days my driveway is full of the fluid. Will the Gearbox rebuild kit take care of all of this, and has anyone done it? Thanks....

Consider this -
http://www.davidpetryk.net/Mercedes/Steering.htm Clean it and see if it's leaking from the seal around the pitman arm shaft. If so, you can replace that seal without pulling the steering box. Sixto 87 300D |
