Would G-wagen manual flywheel from an NA617 work on a turbo 617?
Would G-wagen manual flywheel from an NA617 work on a turbo 617? I wasn't sure if the G-wagens have a larger flywheel than the ones found on 617 in the 300D. The part numbers are different.

I would be surprised if there is any significant difference.

I was wondering if it was even heavier and required a deeper bell housing. It has the same number of bolt holes. The transmissions listed for that model are different that what's found in the 123 chassis.
I'm just curious why the different part numbers between the applications.

I found out they are different. The G flywheel uses a larger clutch.

Interesting, did you find out the weight and diameter? Can it be used in a car?

I'll bet the G-Wagon flywheel is the same one used in the MB vans (409d). Maybe they even have the same transmissions.

I actually got a side by side photo of the 300D and 300GD flywheels from a guy selling these flywheels in Germany.
He measured the flywheel clutch surfaces for me and that's where I found out about the clutch sizes. BTW, I bought the 300D flywheel.

I have photos of both but I'd need to resize them in order to post them.I haven't figured out how to do that on my Mac yet.

It of course would be a cheap shot to say that resizing is easy on a pc, and I'm completely above such nonsense.
Picasa's free, available for PC & mac, suck yer pics into picasa, upload or export at desired size.
