Turn Cam sprocket?
I am attempting to FINALLY do my valve adjustment but have a Q. Can I rotated the engine by the cam sprocket without doing damage, or must I use the crankshaft? The P/S method does not work as the belt keeps slipping.
Thanks ! |

Not a good ideal as twice the force to turn through compression strokes is required. Remember the ratio of two crankshaft turns to one cam turn.
Plus you are gathering slack on the wrong side of the chain drive as you should only turn one way. Using the bottom pully keeps the slack out of the load side. I personally would not do or attempt it. |

DO NOT USE THE CAM. The torque number on the cam is very important. Use a bump starter, the cam does not have to line up with the dots perfectly.

It will cause slack in the chain (very bad).
Using a deep 27mm socket on the crank or jumping the starter is what to do. If the PS belt is tight enough to turn the engine its waaaaaaaay too tight. |
