third brake light for 84 300D turbo

My 84' 300D Turbo has been retrofitted with a third brake light (inside, next to first aid box) from a w124 body. I am looking for help on how to remove the lens and cover assembly from the base so I can replace the cracked assembly. Thanks.

Jazz

remove the whole assembly and be done with it.

It should just bolt down. this might involve removing the parcel shelf (and the back seat). Without a picture I can only speculate though.

I think the assembly disconnects from the base. I agree dump it. I personally think 3rd brake lights are ugly and worthless.
