It separates the front and rear shafts.

tobybul. Can you drive bearing on, or must you use a press?

How do you put photos on. On another thread I tried Photobucket, and you had to click line to get pic.
Thanks.

I don't recall how I got it in but yes you could drive it in. IIRC, I used a pvc pipe to drive it in.

In photobucket, put your cursur on the pic (do not click), pull down comes down, click last box (img), right click, copy and paste url in thread.

So if I can crawl under, grab the driveshaft, and move it plus or minus a half-inch in the center support, that's bad? That might explain the thumping sound during first gear acceleration/ The sound is under the armrest.

So I should get two flex disks, center support, and center support bearing. Anything else I should consider while that is apart?

Replace your dust boot if it is missing or deteriorated. in the pic above, it is on the nut.

I pull the whole shaft out, and pull the halves apart on the bench. No undoing of the nut required.

How important to keep every thing indexed when removing and installing to "insure" the integrety of the shaft balancing ???

I have heard this and you all may be doing this, but I was askin for the askin.
I had to pull the drive line in my '99 and I thought I was being overly attentive.(changed from my 1st verb)

Very. Make sure to clearly mark alignment of the shafts.
