the new belt seemed almost exact to the old, barring slight stretching from the dry-rotted old one.
I must have over-tightened if you recommend 1/2 inch play?? FYI, the adjuster bolt is a long small bolt with eye loop on one end. Pretty simple, course now mine is two pieces |

The adjuster is not essential. You can use a pry bar and tighten the large bolts.

Thanks for the encouragement. I will leave about 1/2 if and when I find the replacement adjustment bolt, which will not be all the way down past breaking. Close to that tight without right it now.
