W123 Emergency Brake Shoe Replacement

So I've been following the FSM and got the old shoes off and for the most part, got the new ones on...But I'm having issues getting the new draw springs re-installed. These are the springs that are installed laterally to keep the shoes from rocking.

If anyone has done this repair (especially without MBs special tool) please let me know how you got the springs in.

Thanks!
