I will do a thorough write up later. Short answer, yes, but not from bent rods and it runs great currently.

Keeping your eyes and ears open good deals do occur occassionaly. Usually you have to ask and dig a little though and not just observe.

I may have an exceptional 126 300sd coming home soon for fairly small dollars. Remarkable overall condition. Time will tell if I prevail.

It will have to work it's way through the court system first. Since first spotting this car until I take posession if that transpires. Almost two years will have elapsed.

Deals like that pretty much don't happen in MI....people want 10k for a rusty car.

About time you bought a W126, the best MB. Whats wrong with it that it only cost $600?

You certainly don't seem to be short on $$ though.

So true. I'd like a 350 minus the engine....and then I'd swap in a 617.

It actually drove 10 miles home perfectly

Pictures: Inside and out is minty. The paint is glossy with only a few dings, and the interior equally preserved. The only thing that bugs me is the after market secondary impact strip, which at least looks to be of high quality.

I bought this car from a very nice older man who owned it since 2004. His brother, the previous owner, bought it when it was nearly new in 1992. There are lots of stamps in the maintenance book, lots of service records, and all the neat little pamphlets and hang tags for the new owners.

The car does not smoke or show feel like its having any problems. However, it does use coolant at a moderately high rate. The seller claims he saw the coolant light go on a few weeks ago, topped it off, and took it to the dealer for service. It was a bombshell $2600-$4600 estimate for a new head gasket and possibly a new head. He claims he never let it over heat, and its always stayed glued just above 80 degrees. As you can see the oil is mixing with the coolant quite a bit.

This car is going to sit while I patiently shop for a motor. I don't have the funds to do it right now, so it will likely have to wait a few months or if I sell a car. For now all I will invest in is a car cover. No point in investing in this one that could or may be in the process of bending rods. It would probably be much easier to find a rusty but cared for 300SDL or W124 300D to do the swap. I'm sure I'll be relying heavily on the forum when the time comes.

daw, you're welcome to it if you make an offer I can't refuse. Speaking of mobster cliches, this W126 had a macheti in the back, along with a shovel and a blue plastic tarp. Not kidding! I wish I took a photo before he cleaned the trunk out.

The puppies felt right at home with the sheepskins.

They've grown a bit:

No ASD or power seat, no SLS, too bad, I'll only give you $500.

Nice find, I can only find 140s that cheap.

Ah the 350, the each die in their own unique ways. Mine drank coolant like you wouldn't imagine but the oil never mixed with it. My guess is that you can drive if fine for about another 15,000 miles (20k if your lucky) at which point you'll lose compression in a cylinder if not worse. That will be your window to find a donor engine. How many miles on it now? and also when you pull the engine let me know. There might be a few things that I want
