Look at this POS

To bad the owner swapped the v8 in and replaced the SLS.

If it started out as a 280TE then the V8 swap isn't totally blasphemous. If it was a 300TD, then someone has some explaining to do.

As long as it was an MB V8, that's tolerable, but removing the SLS... maybe he ran out of dough? Or wanted Bilstein HDs in the back...? Or the V8 did not have a provision for the hydraulic pump...

Ever seen an M116/7 up close? The provision is right on the block under the distributor.

1984 W123 500TE AMG. (pic's) This one exists in real time. Now.

This one's the real deal. It now has been retired for about 5 years where it sits under a tarp in a warehouse near San Francisco, owned by Barry Taylor of AMG West.

His business is the LAST remaining, continuously running AMG tuning shop in the USA, and I know it well, as I have known him personally, and his AMG business since 1985.

This wagon was his darling. It has NEVER BEEN REGISTERED in the USA because he always ran it on dealer plates. It was fully converted by the AMG factory in Affalterbach, Germany, when new, and has a 5.0 Mercedes Benz engine.

It has the AMG metal build tags on the B pillar and radiator, (rare) so it is unquestionably a real AMG car.

He used it as a shop car for almost 20 years, and his wife used it for ordinary going to the store errands.

But it rumbles like a Corvette at idle and REALLY takes off fast, I got some rides on it, on the Richmond Bridge, a long one that goes from Marin County to the east bay and it's very tight and healthy.

It is technically for sale, very expensive, but not advertised. A motivated buyer could own it.

To me it is the ULTIMATE W123, a fully authenticated, never registered, 500 V8 wagon.

Very dusty right now, but would clean up beautfully, one of AMG's early efforts.

500 AMG engine.

AMG factory build plate.

Red interior is striking

More pic's of it from early this year, In Jan. when I found it again.

These to my knowledge are the first shots of it ever posted on the internet, because Barry is computer averse.

The shots are not good bcause the space was tight and I only got to see the car momentarily this first time.

Nonetheless, it's a stunner, dusty as it was.

Its a REAL W123 500TE !!!!

They did not have A M G script for this one, only the window sticker for the rear window....

Even a euro trailer hitch, though the best thing this one was good for is hauling AZZZ !!!

With my friend Barry Taylor, the AMG West owner, in January of this year. He still had the Mercedes Benz Gray Market Importation charts on the wall behind him from the 1980's glory days of the gray market.

He had replaced it a few years ago with this debadged W210 6.0 liter wagon for his shop car.

You said provision, they all have it under that block off plate from what I have seen.

Still no confirmation if it's an MB V8. Maybe MB V8s of that era do have the provision, but not all V8s have it.
