easy cv boot replacing (unless you allready knew how)
hi I have seen lot of post's with trouble in replacing cv boots this is easy after you remove the cv joint end and I am going to tell you how so you can use OEM boots
1 remove the cv joint from the diferential I wont go into all this I am sure you know how (there is a lock washer and a 13 mm nut for the wheel end) 2 now cut off the broken cv boot 3 get a pice of thin plywood not too thin because you have to be able to hit the end of the pice of plywood with a hammer and someone to hold the joint up in the air 4 now the side that goes into the differential is the side that comes off not the other side you will know this becouse the rod that fits into the spider will have a gap in between it almost look like it hasn't gone in properly 5 get someone to hold it up by the other end in the air now put the pice of plywood one the spider and hit it with the hammer all round evenly and soon it should drop off (remember only hit the spider) 6 now you can easily put on the boots and after you put the boots on don't fill it with oil yet please the cv joint end on the rod and push it in with your hand now get someone to drop the joint downward onto the side you removed do this a few times until it had gone in fully ps it would be helpful if someone could put up some pictures inside the cv joint so I can show you exacly where to strike with the pice of plywood good luck jeremy ps did this in a hurry please excuse spelling |
