I hope someone has not said this yet; but, I think People ask for advice but take the advice that backs up what they wanted to do anway or advice that relieves them of responsibility/decision making/blame.

Sometimes people will only follow advice that they paid for even if it is wrong.

BINGO! This is bang on.

If you charge for your advice, it would be more likely to be followed.

Somehow or other you did not say what she wanted to hear. I have no particular biases yet she is female. Slightly different logic seems to apply ocasionally. Remember we love them because they are different.

Now if your wife had told her it would have been a slam dunk. Probably just in over your head like the majority of us. Your frustration is showing.... You also may not be alone.

believe it or not, the guy who did the damage to the car is the one calling the shots on this one...
I told him to get a pair of good used calipers from a junkyard, and I would put them on for 50.00... he decided to call in a favor with a garage he works with,
and have them do what is needed to fix the brakes. it looks like they are going to change the open caliper and put on a rebuilt one... the lady says she will take the car back if it pulls. I tried to explain to her she may not notice it, but it will put extra strain on the entire car, and could cause an unsafe stopping condition in a panic situation...
whatever...
she wants me to go over the car and get it up to snuff when it gets back from the shop.
or after she gets back from california... whatever again.
I just gotta say it's gonna be cash up front...
